Imane Khelif has been excluded from the next World Women’s Boxing Championship because Khelif does not meet the gender eligibility criteria established by the IBA.
Tests carried out in 2023 revealed that Khelif had high levels of testosterone and male chromosomes (XY), which, according to the organization, would give the boxer competitive advantages over other boxers. This situation had already occurred in 2023, when Khelif was disqualified from the World Cup that year for similar reasons.
